A Lori Holt Finish and Showing off the Granddaughters! from The Modern Diary

Barb did a great job quilting my Lori Holt quilt with I love you hands and hearts.  I love that pattern so much!  I made a matching binding and got it on a few days ago.
Here is Indie (standing so good!) on her quilt.  She loves it.

Here is she laughing on it.  My daughter can get the best pictures of these kids.

And here she is sitting.  Sweet girl!

And her older sister had her first dance recital in June.  She did great!

All Moved in Gardening, Birding, and Sewing! from The Modern Diary

We planted two rosebushes because I hated leaving the ones we planted three years ago at our rental.  Looking forward to seeing these grow.  There are already lots of annuals planted around the house which suits us fine as I do not love gardening (love looking at it, but not putting in the work and energy to get there).  You can also see that we sprayed Hazel's mosaics and put them out.  I need to have her make some for this year (we did them on Mother's Day previously but with moving we did not get there this ...

A Whole Lot of News! from The Modern Diary

For some reason I do not think this Kathleen Tracy sampler ever made it to the blog after I quilted it with a baptist fan and bound it.  Love how it turned out.
Managed to do the next block in A Quilting life's BOM before the move.

Made some of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks before and some after the move in orange.

We bid on SIX houses before finally getting our forever home!  After we closed we spent a few weeks making treks over and putting things away and each weekend we painted.  The library/office room is ...

Finishes, So Many Finishes! from The Modern Diary

Becky sent me this awesome snowman wall hanging for Christmas.  I love it!

I had my Ocrevous infusion mid February.  Took Babel to read but was hit super hard by the Benadryl so I had to start it over that night.  Five stars, I really liked it!
I continued to do a row a week on my Sparkling New Year mystery quilt.

I got the first border on it.  It is a little wavy even though I did my usual measuring method.
Today I got the final border on it and I am happy with it!

I spent all day ...

Ruby Jubilee and Lori Holt Block Progress from The Modern Diary

Finished up Ruby Jubilee part three I think it was.  Barb's is looking great in green.
Becky's is looking great in purple too!
The UFO # for this month brought up my Lori Holt blocks...I finally came up with a plan to make these blocks to put between those.  I will be making two quilt tops, but no rush.  Hoping to get these blocks made this month.  I started out by using four patches and cut up squares that were already waiting for a use.  If I am not happy with them I may switch them all up ...

Progress...Slow and Steady! from The Modern Diary

I really have not sewn much the past two weeks.  Before that I got all the blocks and half blocks ready for Winter Blues in Green.  I then realized I had a TON of sashing to cut and cornerstones.  Wind out of sails  I just did not feel like cutting all that!  There is so much cutting and subcutting in this one!  I am loving my new ruler for doing it but still.  I also am pretty sure that I want to do a yellow version of this and then combine the two colors for TWO Packer quilts instead of ...

Fruits and Veges from The Modern Diary

Really love how my corn and tomatoes 2 block came out.  Cold watermelon is cute too.
I had a partially cut Simple Gifts quilt and decided to just cut a few more strips and sew up.  Nothing super cute but now I have an empty bin.
I was planning on doing GE Designs Hey June QAL today but my mom (who just got into Eau Claire for the summer last Saturday) is really sick in critical care.  She has cancer and diabetes and heart issues, but she apparently got a UTI which turned septic before she went in.  She had ...

Farm Girl Vintage is Growing! from The Modern Diary

Read the latest Once Upon a Book Club box and put it up for sale when I was done.  I have enjoyed all but one of the books I have read in the past year.  Thinking I may cancel after my birthday as it is not cheap, but I wind up selling almost all of them so basically it costs me postage for the fun each month.
I started working on more towels since I need new ones (and I gave away all the ones I made last year) and they make great gifts.  I had to reacquaint myself with ...

Daddy's Tractor Challenge! from The Modern Diary

I ordered this turquoise grunge fabric to use on my Pine Tree Rainbow Scrap Challenge sashing.  I do not have enough of the other and am happy to say that this matches pretty good considering I picked it online.
I have slowed down on the Farm Girl Vintage blocks since I was busy paper piecing on Wild and Goosey.  Now that that is cleaned up, I decided to make a pair of Daddy's Tractor blocks.  I cut things over two days and messed up all over the place.  I actually cut the background out of the tractor green!  It ...

Honk Honk! Wild and Goosey Rides Again! from The Modern Diary

I finally dug out my Wild and Goosey paper pieced quilt two weeks or so ago and started making the blocks again. I always knew I wanted to make my top bigger, but I was just tired of making the blocks.  After waiting a few years, I am loving it again!

All nine of these blocks made it into the next row and my top is now nine by nine blocks.  Still not big enough....

I did manage to make a pair of hand mixer blocks.
And I won on Alycia Quilts blog!  There was some flannel and cotton fabric ...

Farm Girl Vintage 2! The Sewing Goes On! from The Modern Diary

I was kind of sad that the four books I own by Lori Holt (and several PDF's) did not have a puppy block!  Luckily Barb had the Christmas book and borrowed it to me for this puppy!  It was fun to make.
Next, I decided instead of wrapping up these Lori Holt blocks, I should buy Farm Girl Vintage 2 and keep on sewing.  So I started with a nice easy pair of Acorn blocks.  Love how they came out!
Then I got crazy and cut for a pair of Rise and Shine Rooster blocks. I then took some ...

More Blocks and a Mini Completion! from The Modern Diary

This cake block about killed me.  One heart is still not right.  I am over it!
Next was a nice simple block and I raided my HST bin so it was even easier!
Really enjoyed the Crops blocks.  They were fun to make.
These are the Farm Fresh Eggs blocks.  Also nice and simple.  I now have 24 blocks (two sets of 24) and am thinking that should be enough for a few baby quilts.

I decided to quilt a baptist fan on this other Bachelor Button Blues quilt too.  I managed to break two buttons while doing it.  Note ...

Mother's Day Surprise and More! from The Modern Diary

The days are warming up and we were able to take Hazel outside for a bit one afternoon.  She loves looking at my quilts and she was pretty happy staying on the quilt for several minutes just checking it out.  She gets all around now with a pull crawl kind of movement and sometimes with a knee/foot combo so far.  She rolls all over and spins too.  Such a personality even so young.  I love this little one!
For Mother's Day we went all out and made more butterfly feet.  One for me, my mom, Jeremy's mom ...

Bachelor Button Blues and Sunflowers! from The Modern Diary

My pair of Bachelor Button Blues quilts are coming along.  They are 14 inches square but look bigger in the picture.  I sewed little colorful buttons on this one (the other one will get buttons today) instead of doing little blue wool flowers.  I started to quilt this one (just around the brown) but have no idea what else to do so it is waiting for inspiration.
I also cut and sewed two Sunny Sunflower blocks yesterday while sewing with Barb.  These were fun to make.

Farm Girl Vintage Progress from The Modern Diary

Farm Girl Vintage is coming along.  Here is one set of the blocks together and after that I made a pair of Wooly Sheep.  You can barely see their light blue legs.  Thinking I should have gone darker!
Spring is trying hard to appear here!  These opened up today and look so nice.  Unfortunately, they are the only ones in the entire backyard that I see!

Farm Girl Vintage Progress from The Modern Diary

Sometimes I lay my blocks out on the boards I made (also Lori Holt inspired) and other times I just put the parts on there and go for it.  The Farmhouse Blocks went together nicely.  I love the one that the butterfly shows in the roof!
The Old Red Barn blocks got some hexi fabric instead of the little block they were supposed to get.  I also pulled out some of the red fabric that I had stored in the barn quilt bin.  Years ago I really wanted to make one of the barn quilts with different blocks in them ...

Farm Girl Vintage Continues from The Modern Diary

I have been trying to make two blocks a day if I can get to my machine from the Lori Holt Farm Girl Vintage book.  So Strawberries.

Milkcans! We had a green milkcan which we moved all over when I was younger.  Not sure what ever happened to it, but I loved that thing!
Mixing Bowls.
And today I made Canning Jars.
Here is one set so far.  No idea where I am going with these, but I am enjoying making them!

I am also coming along on my exchange mini quilt in civil war fabrics.  I discovered the one ...

Farm Girl Vintage Start from The Modern Diary

Hazel is starting to cruise!  She was chasing the ball in this picture.  Just a bit over six months old and such a happy girl!  She loves to be read to and her favorite book at my house is "That's Not My Puppy!" which we read at least once each day.

Just finished my latest book box.  The story was good though lots of "convenient" things happening to interrupt things all the time.  It got on my nerves a bit.
Finished the Kathleen Tracy Mini Mystery.  She decided to surprise us with the last clue (borders) a few days ...
